Sevilla´s football: Sevilla FC

Sevilla FC are a very well respected and talented football team. They play in the highest division of Spanish football, La Liga. They are the most decorated team in Andalusia having won a La Liga title, 5 UEFA Europa Leagues and a UEFA Super Cup just to name a few. Sevilla FC has a women’s team also currently playing in the top division after being promoted in the 2016/17 season.

The Sevilla FC home ground, The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, is located in the nervion area of the city. It has a capacity of 42,714, however it initially had a capacity of up to 70,000 when it was first constructed in 1957. Before then they played in various grounds around the city, including La Trinidad field.

Sevilla FC fans are located all around Spain, although most of course come from Seville. They even have a group of ´ultra´ fans called the “Biris Norte” created from a large following of the player Alhaji Momodo Njle. Also known as Biri Biri, Njle played in the 1970s however he still has a large following even though he is retired.

If you´re coming to Seville and you´re interested in football, we definitely recommend that you head over to the Nervion area and see the stadium for yourself.
